Reenactment Units

Currently, in the GWA there are 33 units that participate regularly. The GWA has approx 350 members that portray various units from Australia, Great Britain, Germany, the United States, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, France, Russia, and Canada.

To participate with the Great War Association, you would start by deciding which nation you would like to portray, then study the unit websites and talk to their members to see if you share their philosophy and goals. Read through the Member Committee FAQ and areas too.

Units

To find out more about each unit, simply click on the icon for the side you are interested in and then click on the flag of the country. Next, look for the units portrayed. When clicking on the unit, you will either activate a link to their web page, or, if they don't have a web page, a brief description of the unit and a contact person. This contact person can give you more information on that unit; their requirements, cost to start-up, how to join, etc.

Central Powers Unit's pages now up!
Most Allied pages there, rest in next week!

Please note: Before you purchase any uniform or equipment please contact the unit you are interested in and find out what their authenticity standards are. We would really hate to see you purchase something that is not up to their authenticity standards and is forced to sit out the event in your trunk.

GWA Website Updates

Updates to the website will be done on a once a month basis. If your unit is supposed to be listed here and it is not or you find a mistake. Please send a website "update request" to: GWA Web Team

The Allies

The grand coalition to save the world! Banded together in a all-out effort to fight for freedom. Here, you'll find the ever-expanding worldwide list of Great War Allied reenactor websites. Alas, this list is not even close to being complete. We have now broken down this area into separate pages for each country. There are just too many units to list on one page ;-)

The Central Powers

Originally comprised of old Civil War Confederate reenactors, guys who lived to be the "underdogs," the Central Powers forces in WWI reenacting have grown to become a force to be reckoned with. The men who portray the soldiers of Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire are serious in both their impressions and their attitudes.
